DIY video - device recording

You will learn how to think like a film maker and set up a successful self-recording with a smart phone device.

Wednesday, 27 March from 2:00pm - 3:30pm via Zoom

There are three people in a film studio. One woman stands in front of a device on a stand looking at camera. Another woman is adjusting the camera and showing her how to use it. Behind them, a man sits on a chair adjusting his own camera on a stand.

Key Learning Goals:

  • Think like a film maker.
  • Understanding the fundamentals of basic shooting on a smart phone.
  • Be resourceful and practical.

Recording your own content with a smart phone device can be challenging.  The key is having good knowledge of your tech and applying your knowledge with a film maker’s eye.

In this DIY workshop, we will take you through the steps required to set up a successful self-recording with a smart phone device.  We will cover essential equipment requirements and show you some film making hacks for lighting and camera stabilisation.

We will get you to re-imagine your location through the eyes of a studio set designer and provide you with some hints and tips on presenting that will increase the production value of your content.

This session will be geared towards first-time video creators that are keen to learn more about the process directly from an experienced video and media expert.

This workshop is facilitated by Pru Burns, Media Coaching Coordinator for the Video and Media team within Learning Environments.
