DIY video editing essentials

In this workshop, we will cover the fundamentals of post-production workflow and video editing.

Tuesday, 23 April from 2:00pm - 3:30pm, Parkville.

Four students sit on a table with their backs to the shot looking at a screen. They all have laptops. A man with glasses sits in front of them teaching.

Video editing is considered by some to be a craft and editors can spend a lifetime in pursuit of a great cut. However, being able to embrace key tricks of the trade for your own video productions can be easily achieved. In this workshop, we will introduce the basic fundamentals of editing your video content, explore the post-production workflow and discuss how best to apply those rules.

The workshop will also contain an overview of the following:

  • Importing media
  • Multi-track editing
  • Topping and tailing videos
  • Adjusting audio levels
  • Exporting and uploading

This session will be geared towards first-time video editors who are keen to learn more about the process directly from an experienced post-production specialist.

* There is a maximum capacity for 12 participants in this workshop.

This workshop is facilitated by Dave Withers, Senior Video Producer for the Video and Media team within Learning Environments.
