SES Semester 2 comes to a close
The 2018 Semester 2 Subject Experience Survey period was open from Monday 8 October to Sunday 28 October. The overall SES response rate for Semester 2, 2018 was 36.97%. This figure is the adjusted figure that will match reporting. It is filtered to remove attempts at the survey that didn't completely answer the 10 questions of the core survey.
A campaign to drive awareness and participation in the SES was again run this semester alike to last semester's extra effort. In addition to the SES prize draw of 10 x $100 Coles Myer gift cards, digital signage and hardcopy posters, indoor and outdoor banners and iPad stations were displayed and available in high student traffic areas across all University campuses. Spruikers approached students with coffee vouchers as an incentive to complete surveys, and this semester were sometimes present at the cafes as well as in the libraries and the Union building.
The coffee vouchers again proved a huge hit and helped to drive awareness and partial completion, if not full. A shorter survey instrument of 6 questions was trialed in select subjects. While the shorter instrument was chosen over the current instrument of 10 questions at a ratio of 2:1, the sample size this semester was perhaps too small to ascertain a stand-out pattern of whether a shorter survey instrument helps to drive participation rates higher.
