LMS subject availability

All Semester 1, 2019 subjects (2019_SM1) and 2019 year-long subjects (2019_YRL) will automatically be made available to students in the LMS on Friday 22nd February, 2019 at 10:00am.

All 2018 subjects will automatically be made unavailable to students in the LMS on Friday 22nd February, 2019 at 10:00am.

Subjects in other 2019 teaching periods (e.g. 2019_MAR or 2019_TM2) or MERGE_2019 subjects, will not be updated automatically and will require subject coordinators to make the subject available or unavailable at the appropriate time.

Remember, you don’t have to wait until the system makes the change! You can update the availability of your subject or community in the LMS, as well as control the visibility of specific content within it, at any time using the following options:

To make a subject or community un/available to students:

  1. Log in to the LMS and navigate to your subject or community.
  2. In the Control Panel, click on Customisation, then Properties.
  3. Under the heading “Set Availability”, change Make Subject Available to Yes or No.
  4. Click Submit.

Update the availability of your subject or community any time at Control Panel > Customisation > Properties

An icon will appear on the top right of all Content pages indicating whether the subject/community is available to students or not. You can click this icon to change the availability of the subject at any time.

An alternative to making the entire subject available or unavailable to students is to choose to make specific content visible or invisible to students within the subject.

While you are finalising content, you can decide which menu items are shown or hidden and decide which items within each page are visible to students.

To change whether a page is available to students

Using the Show/Hide Link setting, you can choose which menu items are visible to students: Show or hide a subject menu item.

To change whether a content item is available to students

Edit an item on your content page to control whether it displays to students. Editing an item to change the availability of content on a subject page.

Using the Permit Users to View this Content = NO setting, you can also choose which items on a page are visible to students: Unavailable content on subject page.

If you have any queries regarding making subjects and/or specific content available to students, please submit a support request.
