Assignment Groups from the Handbook

New Assignment Groups now appear in all 2021 subjects, based on the assessments listed in the Handbook. Each Assignment group will be named and weighted e.g. Test (50 mins) Handbook 2021 (15% of Total).

New or existing Assignments (including Quizzes and graded Discussions) can be created or placed within these Assignment Groups. These weighted Assignment Groups appear as columns in the Gradebook and are used for calculating the total mark for a subject. Click on Assignments in the subject navigation menu to see all Assignments and weighted Assignment Groups in the subject.

The image below shows an example of Assignment Groups that have been created within a subject based on the Handbook information.

When you see these in your subject, you can then create your assignments within each Assignment group:

The Assignment group names and weightings can be edited if necessary. Students can see the names and weightings of Assignment Groups through “Grades” so it is important that the details are correct.

If the subject content has been copied from a previous version of a subject, some reorganisation may be needed:

  • Copied Assignments can be dragged and dropped from the 2020 Assignment Groups into the 2021 Assignment Groups.
  • New assignments can be built within a 2021 assignment group, and the older ones unpublished or deleted.
  • Additional Assignment Groups, or the default named “Assignments”, with 0% weighting, can be used to contain the assignments that do not contribute to the final mark e.g. revision quizzes.
