Sections in Canvas
Sections in Canvas allow teaching staff to create lists or subsets of students within a cohort so that they can send direct communications (announcements, emails etc.), give different due dates for assessments, or make activities available to only particular Sections as required.
In the Sections area (Settings >> Sections) you will see a list of the Tutorial groups as Sections by default. This data is fed automatically and dynamically from StudentOne and cannot be changed (data will revert back to match StudentOne within a day if any changes are made). In addition to the automatic Tutorial groups as Sections, you can also add your own Sections according to your need.
It is important to note that Section names are visible to students so should not include sensitive information.
